hey greg, my boy landed a 40 lber last week and took 2nd place for the week in the Cup. Does he get anything for second?
I just noticed your face in the crowd photo from the Striper cup festival last year
Hey, Greg. Been a while since we've chatted. Not too much more fishing lately with some company in town, but looking forward to the tides straightening out for night fishing this next week. Any time on the water? Let me know if you're interested in heading out soon.
Colin
just got back from BI this morning and it was AWESOME. Landed my first 35 lber and a 32 lber. it was an incredible morning out there and we had the place to ourselves. Fish stacked on fish. Thanks for all the advice !
hey greg, my boys and i are planning on heading to BI next week for some evening/night./ dawn fishing. Is it worth trying the North Rip or should i just head straight to the ledge? plan on dragging some eels and scups. I want my first 40 this year haha, i need some help
BTW, just saw an OTW update on a 50lb-er caught from RI surf!! HOLY COW!
Greg-
back in town... no luck in Humarock; bait shop folks said no bait of consequence holding fish yet and July/August are hot times there. Anyway, back in for RI fishing and ready to catch a decent fish! Looks like some monsters have been caught this week... awesome for the standings, but still would like to at least weigh a fish. let me know when you are headed out again. Colin
thanks G, im just lookin for some new spots in the lower bay, the waters starting to get a little to warm up near me
im looking for some good spots to fish with eels at night, im not used to fishing with them but i was wondering if you have any suggestions, boat or shore, day or night, i tried little compton friday night and couldnt raise a fish
Hey Greg!
Ive been doing pretty well in the mount hope bay- prudence island area. Lots of bunker, live lining and chunking. Im still only scoring fish in the teens too. Hoping to fish stars and stripers this weekend, we'll see what happens. Do you guys need a hand filleting on sunday? and im wondering what you do with all the carcasses cause i have some lobster gear and could use the bait if its just gonna get thrown out. Let me know what you think. Good luck this weekend.
Greg-
Any luck lately? If you are interested I think I will try at the new gazebo on the base this week/weekend. The construction line is down, although one of the cops "visited" while I was checking it out the other night. Not too much of a jerk, but you can guess which one it was... Did get 1 short and a Blue ate half an eel last night. Will be on base tomorrow evening for the boating course until 2030, then fishing if not raining. Let me know if you're interested in getting together. Colin
Hey, Greg. First released keeper this morning; 30.5 inches at Carr Pt. 0430 on a jumpin minnow. Nothing on eels. Looking to head out tonight and tomorrow AM if you're interested. Anything this past week?
Colin
How'd y'all fare last night? The 35.5" (17 lb) was it for me. Wind really started whipping by the time I got to base, and didn't spend a lot of time there. Looking to get out tomorrow night if this storm moves out.
Got it. I'm with you on picking it up... Have been to the bridge a few more times with all shorts coming up. Did you pick up the keepers on eels? There are some really nice bass under the bridge just over half way across - just out of reach from both sides. Good luck with the tourney. Let me know if you'd like some company while your out.
Colin
slow for me my weekend total was 4 squid. 3 stripers (2 keepers) 1 fluke, 1 lobster.. so not that impressive. Tom and I ended up with 5 from the bridge Friday night, (i got 2). AM sure we will get together,, should be starting to get good at war college corner...you tried that much yet..?
Hey, Greg. How'd you do from the boat the other day? Sorry I couldn;t make it, but definately interested in the raincheck...
Another horrible few nights for me this past weekend - got to figure ut what's going on... Hopefully better luck coming this week... Colin
Got it, thanks. No problem with the sectret-squirrel info; didn't know if ya'll were on base or off. Good luck tonight. If I get this #@$^%$ paper finished this evening, I plan on hitting the base tomorrow night. Also, looking at the tides, I may try to come up with some times to go later in the night/earlier in the AM over the next week or so to try a dropping tide. Ed's presentation was great, and hopefully I'll be able to rent a boat a few times this summer and try some of the closer spots.
Colin
Any luck last night? Head to the base? Also meant to ask, where di BJ hook up the other night? Was he fishing eels or lures?
Colin
Hey Greg. Talked to Dennis yesterday; he pulled in a 20 ounder last week from Cliff Walk area and said he saw a pretty significant school of fish feeding on the surface from Brenton Point. He's been fishing almost solely with bucktails so far...
