Captain Blaine Anderson with an enormous LI Sound Striper from 2012
Huge thanks to Captain Jack Sprengel for bringing his "Off Shore Sharking" presentation to AIST. Few speakers can match his combination of technical proficiency and enthusiasm for sport fishing and this presentation was no different.
The Annual Awards dinner was held Sat night!!
Very Happy Hour began at 5pm and the rest was History.....
From the Jersey Shore to Cape Cod if the striper bite is on DJ is likely not far away. Our First NJ Presenter DJ is a high energy presenter who should give us a fresh perspective on Surf Fishing stripers from Jersey to Mass and is sure to entertain. Meeting is free for members, 5$ for non dues paying attendees .
DJ Muller with a recent caught Surf Striper
Decembers AIST meeting featured IGFA Hall of Fame Member Capt Al Anderson.
AIST had a first on DEC 18th when Hall of Fame Angler Capt Anderson was our speaker. Capt Anderson is a renowned Author and Angler who has spent years fishing the RI coast and was the perfect speaker to kick off our winter meeting schedule.
Capt Al Anderson's induction into the IGFA Hall of fame
Due to Al's popularity and draw as a speaker we are asking all non dues paying members (aka guests) to pay a 5 $ cover to attend that nights meeting. (Fee is waived for any non member that joins that night. )
We will of course serve food and continue with our usual meeting agenda. Our Reel Raffle will feature a new Penn 750 Spinfisher. The dollar raffle table will be loaded as well so its a perfect time to win some stocking stuffers.
Decembers meeting is also our yearly Toy Drive so please bring a new unwrapped toy if you can.
Congrats to our elected officers for the 2014 fishing season . Corey Smith President, Kurt Rivard VP, Phil Ducket Treasurer.
"Wanting to Drink" and "Getting to Drink"
from the cup are two very different things.
No one will just let us have it; not the other teams, not the fish. We will not win it when we have the most guys signed up....nor when we have the biggest name fishermen with the nicest boats and best gear.....
We will win it.....when we earn it
...it is on. Fish long, Fish hard; step up and be accounted for. Do not assume the "other guys" on our team will be the guys with the big fish, do not assume the "other guys" will be the ones out fishing when its miserable outside and conditions are brutal. Do not assume the "other guys" will be the ones fishing when it is cold and wet and you want to stay home.
We are all the "other guys" and always have been.
